Abstract

This article provides a strong endorsement for the utility of the situation awareness (SA) construct in applications and agreement with the identification of fallacies on the construct cited by Endsley. I then highlight three aspects of the construct for discussion: the distinction between SA and decision/choice/action, the distinction between long-term and working memory (related to bandwidth of change), and the importance and challenges of Level 3 SA.
