Scope
Provides an objective photometric definition and measurement method for the low-beam (dipped-beam) visual cut-off line of vehicle headlights. Correct aiming of low beams is performed visually in Europe and the USA using the cut-off line in the beam pattern, so a precise, uniform definition is needed for consistent interpretation across regulations. Directly governs the boundary between the driver's forward road illumination and the glare imposed on oncoming drivers.
