Scope
The framework regulation (GSR2) mandating a suite of driver-facing advanced safety systems on new EU vehicles, phased from 6 July 2022 (new types) and 7 July 2024 (all new vehicles). Driver-relevant mandates include intelligent speed assistance (ISA), driver drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW), advanced driver distraction warning (ADDW), emergency lane-keeping (ELKS), advanced emergency braking, emergency stop signal, reversing detection, alcohol-interlock installation facilitation, and event data recorders. The detailed technical requirements for each are set in delegated/implementing acts that supplement this parent regulation.
