Scope
Defines AEBS as a device that detects an impending forward collision while driving and automatically actuates the brakes to decelerate or stop the vehicle to mitigate or avoid it. Mandates fitment (excluding light buses and ultra-compact vehicles), with the mandate expanded from heavy buses and >3.5 t freight/special to passenger and ≤3.5 t freight/special vehicles, covering detection of lead vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. A driver-facing forward-collision active-safety intervention supplementing driver braking.
