Scope
Recommended Practice defining the boundaries of hand-control locations reachable by given percentages of the U.S. driver population in passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, and light trucks (SAE J1100 Class A vehicles). Provides reach-envelope construction tied to the seating reference point and steering-wheel position for placing controls within driver reach. Not applicable to heavy trucks (Class B). Latest edition is a Five-Year-Review reaffirmation with minor editorial corrections.
