Scope
Recommended Practice establishing uniform vehicle-level test procedures, target equipment, test scenarios, and measurement methods to evaluate the ability of automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems to detect and respond to a forward vehicle approached from the rear. Defines stopped, slower, and decelerating lead-vehicle scenarios; the latest edition adds offset-impact cases and new test equipment. Tester sets speeds/decelerations/gaps per intended purpose.
