Scope

Consolidated performance regulation for road illumination devices (RID): headlamps emitting driving and/or passing beams, adaptive front-lighting systems (AFS), front fog lamps and cornering lamps. Streamlines and supersedes the separate older headlamp regulations (R19, R98, R112, R113, R119, R123) for new types. Specifies photometric beam patterns, glare limits and cut-off that determine how far and how well the driver sees the road at night and how much glare oncoming/leading drivers receive.
