Scope

Approval of Event Data Recorders (EDR) for light-duty vehicles (M1, N1), specifying the crash-related data elements to be recorded around a triggering event (e.g. speed, braking, accelerator position, occupant-restraint and safety-system status) in a readily usable form for crash investigation and safety-system performance analysis. Relevant to driver-behaviour research as the standardised in-vehicle record of pre-crash driver inputs and vehicle state. Revision 1 (2023) added the 01 series of amendments.
