Scope
Approval of motor-vehicle headlamps equipped with gas-discharge (HID/xenon) light sources. Specifies photometric beam pattern, cut-off and glare limits for passing and driving beams, governing how far and how clearly the driver sees the road at night and how much glare is imposed on oncoming drivers. Performance for new types is now also covered by R149.
