By leveraging ubiquitous driving simulator technology, the project offers a low-cost, high-impact method for universities, libraries, and workforce centers to engage young students in freight transportation careers. The study demonstrates that early exposure to simulator-based learning can effectively bridge the gap between abstract engineering concepts and tangible workforce roles, potentially aiding in the recruitment of a diverse and skilled future workforce for the multimodal transportation sector. The developed lesson plans and resources are made publicly available to support broader adoption of these outreach strategies.
