Scope
Defines the technical requirements for event data recorders (EDR) under GSR2, referencing UN Regulation No 160 (and its 01 series of amendments) for light-duty M1/N1 vehicles. Specifies the data elements to be recorded around a crash event, data format, capture/overwrite/locking rules, on-board storage, and crash-survivability requirements. EDR data captures the moments before, during and after a collision, supporting reconstruction of driver inputs and pre-crash vehicle state. Applies from 6 July 2022 for new types.
