Scope
IIHS consumer-rating protocol (good/acceptable/marginal/poor) for the safeguards built into partial driving automation (Level 2) systems. Driver-facing criteria include driver monitoring (DMS eye tracking, head tracking, hand tracking/monitoring, camera occlusion/obscuration tests), escalating multi-modal attention reminders, emergency escalation countermeasures and fail-safe slow/stop when the driver is unresponsive, driver-initiated automated lane change, and lockout confirmation.
