Scope

The original European Statement of Principles (ESoP 1999). Summarises essential safety aspects to be considered for the human-machine interface of in-vehicle information and communication systems, setting out design and installation principles intended to limit driver distraction and overload. Subsequently updated in 2006 and 2008. Notified under C(1999) 4786; published in OJ L 19, 25.1.2000, p. 64.
