Scope
Specifies requirements for the location, identification, colour and illumination of motor vehicle controls, telltales and indicators, to ensure their accessibility, visibility and recognition under daylight and night-time conditions and to reduce hazards from diversion of the driver's attention and errors in selecting controls. Applies to passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks and buses (49 CFR 571.101).
