Scope
Provides guidance on ethical considerations relating to road traffic safety of autonomous vehicles, identifying aspects of AV behaviour that designers and manufacturers should consider so that key issues are not overlooked. It offers a set of protocol guidelines that decision makers can self-certify against to assure that necessary ethical considerations were addressed during design. Applicable to Level 5 vehicles per SAE J3016; it does not specify the technical control method nor the desired outcomes of the decisions themselves.
