What's here. The classic taxonomy divisions sit here: visual, manual, visual_manual, cognitive, auditory, and temporal distraction, along with mind_wandering and external_distraction from sources outside the vehicle. Secondary-task engagement and its effects on driving performance belong here; general mental demand and how it is measured sits under Cognitive Workload instead.

What isn't here.

• algorithms that detect distraction from cameras, gaze, or vehicle signals — Driver State Monitoring (DMS). Distraction detection algorithms and gaze-based attention detection are filed with driver monitoring systems. This category holds the behaviour; that one holds the sensing and classification of it.
• the phones, infotainment, and nav devices themselves — In-Vehicle Technology. Mobile phones, infotainment, nav systems, and voice assistants are indexed by device there. A lot of that work cross-lists here, but questions about what a particular device or interface does start there.
• visual search and cognitive aging — Cognitive Psychology Foundations. Named close to the visual and cognitive subcategories here, but they are basic-cognition topics rather than diversion of attention from driving.
