discomfort glare

Discomfort glare that is annoying or aversive but does not measurably reduce visual performance: subjective ratings of glare from oncoming headlamps, LED sources, or sun (e.g., de Boer scale), squinting and aversion responses, and acceptability thresholds. Defined by reported discomfort, distinct from glare that actually lowers contrast sensitivity and acuity (disability_glare).
