Neurophysiological measures used AS the index of cognitive workload, attention, or vigilance: EEG spectral power (frontal theta, parietal alpha, theta/alpha ratio, engagement index), ERP components as workload markers (P300/P3 amplitude, N100, error-related negativity), event-related desynchronization, and fNIRS prefrontal oxygenation (HbO/HbR) read as a cognitive-state indicator. The paper's contribution is the BRAIN MEASURE as an indicator of cognitive state — its validity, sensitivity, or its relation to task demand. Distinct from workload_measurement, which covers behavioural and subjective instruments (NASA-TLX, DRT, occlusion), and from the hardware axis (hardware:eeg, hardware:fnirs), which records only that the instrument was worn.
