automation complacency bias

Human performance problems of supervising automation in any domain: automation complacency, automation bias and over-reliance, out-of-the-loop performance loss, ironies of automation, misuse and disuse of automated aids, vigilance under monitoring of reliable automation, and levels-of-automation frameworks (Sheridan, Parasuraman). The cross-domain (aviation, process control, medical) automation-supervision literature that vehicle automation research builds on, distinct from takeover_transitions and mode_awareness (driving-specific automation behavior) and from trust_in_automation_foundations (the trust construct itself).
