External human-machine interfaces: displays, light bands, projections, or signals on the vehicle exterior that communicate an automated vehicle's intent or state to pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. Concerns outward-facing signaling to people outside the car, NOT wireless machine-to-machine connectivity (v2x_connected_vehicle) or disclosure of operating limits to the driver (odd_communication).
