Whether a partial-automation system requires continuous physical contact with the steering wheel, and what that requirement does to the driver: hands-on versus hands-off L2 operation, hands-on-wheel torque sensing and nag/escalation strategies, capacitive hands-detection, and the effect of sustained physical engagement on attention, vigilance, and cognitive disengagement. The PHYSICAL ENGAGEMENT requirement and its consequences, distinct from automation_level.l2_supervised (which records the SAE level regardless of hands policy), from driver monitoring by camera/gaze (gaze_based_attention_detection), and from the handback of control itself (takeover_transitions).
