braking response

How and when the driver decelerates: brake onset timing, brake reaction time to a lead-vehicle or hazard event, pedal-application dynamics, and deceleration magnitude. This is the discrete braking action and its timing, distinct from steady-state speed selection (speed_choice) and from the gap maintained to the vehicle ahead (following_distance).
